Informing Better Outcomes for Vulnerable Children

Dr Anna Leyland’s research uses linked administrative data to understand the experiences of children who come into contact with welfare services and the justice system. Her work has highlighted the strong links between child welfare involvement and later justice outcomes, providing valuable evidence on the challenges faced by vulnerable young people.
The findings have contributed to policy and practice discussions across child welfare, education and youth justice, helping decision-makers better understand where early intervention and support may be most effective. By bringing together data from different systems, Anna’s research is helping to build a stronger evidence base for improving outcomes for children and young people.
